Use of Mirrors
Check mirrors:
Before you signal
Before any change of speed
When changing direction
On the approach to nay hazard
Signals
Informs other road users of your intentions.
Signals must not be confusing or misleading.
Hazards
A hazard is anything that makes you change direction or speed.
Starting to drive
Prepare:
Clutch down, select 1st gear, clutch to bite, set gas.
Observe:
Looking all round, over left shoulder first and finish looking over right shoulder.
Move:
Release handbrake, signal if necessary.
Stopping:
Look for somewhere SLAC. Centre Mirror, Left Mirror, Signal Left, Steer to the Left Aongside Kerb, Gently Break, Clutch Down, Apply Handbrake, Out of Gear, Cancel Signal. |

As you know, it has been a long painful process.
There have been Long Painful Moments of Gloom and Tears of Despair.
And when Andy had finished mopping his eyes, there was me shaking and swearing like a, well, like a shaky swearing thing.
It took Two Failures, Five Gallons of Rescue Remedy and several pairs of Special Driving Shoes (ok, so any excuse for a bit of shoe shopping...)
But I finally made it, albeit in a bunny hopping, swervy kind of way. And I did take the examiner on a whirlwind tour of some of the smaller, tighter Aldershot backstreets, entirely by accident.

But that still didn't
deter him from his task in hand, and that was to give me official licence to go shopping with the mini, whenever I get the urge.
So now all that is left, is for me to say a Huge Thank You to LSOH, to Andy Kell from BSM in Guildford, to my family and friends, and all of you who gamely came along for the ride.
Thank you to all of you who wrote in with words of encouragement, and who followed my shaking, wobbly progress though to the bitter end.
And just before I toddle off into the sunset, grinning from ear to ear like a badly made, rather elderly version of the Cheshire Cat, let me leave you with a word of caution:
Me and the mini are now offically on the roads. You have been warned....
